How to get Rid of Stretch Marks Naturally
Stretch marks occur when the skin experiences a drastic expansion either due to weight gain or during pregnancy. The marks appear in form of stripes on the skin usually on the buttocks, stomach, legs and arms. They can result in the tearing of the skin. Stretch mark remedies aim at repairing the skin by restoring the skin’s elasticity to its normal levels.
Cocoa butter, Shea butter and jojoba oils contain essential nutrients that help to eliminate stretch marks. When applied on the top layer of the skin, it reaches down to the dermis and it’s at this point that the nutrients in cocoa butter start to repair the worn out skin. Other items that can be applied on the marks include grinded coffee beans which are usually mixed with water in order to reduce their abrasiveness. Alternatively, peanut butter can be used where it’s applied on the affected areas in circular motions for a minute then wiped out with a warm and damp cloth.
Aloe Vera is another natural extract that helps to repair the skin while at the same time preventing and reversing scars. A combination of aloe Vera and olive oil, squalene oil and grapefruit seed extract also works perfectly.
Taking a lot of fresh water helps to re-hydrate the areas affected by the stretch marks thus getting rid of them slowly. One should take at least four pints (ten glasses) of water per day. Water also helps in fastening the process of repairing the damaged skin.
Massage is also an important therapy in eliminating stretch marks. This is especially so for pregnant women when in their 6th and 7th months of pregnancy. The massage should be done using natural extracts from Centella Asiatica which provides the stretched skin with moisture that makes the skin resistant to post pregnancy effects. The extracts also help to improve the skin’s immunity levels.
Vitamin E provides nutrients that boost the skin’s healing process. Application of vitamin E extracts on the affected area has visible results in a period of 2 weeks. Foods rich in Vitamin A are also recommended for people with stretch marks. These foods include nuts (cashew nuts, coconuts and ground nuts), berries and bran and wheat products. Always ensure that you take a balanced meal which improves the skin’s capacity to heal from the stretch marks.
Zinc components help in improving the appearance of the skin and making it tough enough to withstand the stretch marks effects without major damage.
One cannot overlook the need for regular exercises in getting rid of stretch marks. Exercise help to tone up the body. For instance if the stretch marks are on the belly, then doing exercises that tone up the belly muscles will result in disappearing of the marks. One should completely avoid the sun. The sun’s ultraviolet rays make the skin affected by stretch marks to become ‘loose’ which makes its harder to eliminate such marks. In extreme cases sunlight on new or recently healed scars can make them permanent.
